Latest shipment!

Our latest shipment sees the return of the very popular wines from Axel Prufer who tends his vineyards in the Languedoc in the mountains behind Beziers. His wines are very pure, very natural, light in body but characterised by great depth of flavour. His Fou du Roi (the mad king) is a blend of equal parts of Grenache, Carignan and Cinsault and 10% of Cabernet Sauvignon. The Avanti Popolo (forward people!) is a lighter style than the Fou du Roi and is made from equal parts of Grenache and Carignan. We have had the privilege of walking through Axel's beautiful vineyards that are surrounded by the forests to ensure that no spray can ever reach them. We have been delighted by the biodiversity present in his vineyards and we believe this helps produce fruit of exceptional quality.  We were able to buy reasonable quantities of each of these wines as we got in early.

This shipment also saw a large supply of the wines of the remarkable Jean-Paul Brun from Beaujolais. We have the rare and interesting Beaujolais Blanc back in stock. This a 100% Chardonnay from the Beaujolais which is drinking very nicely and is very good value. The lovely, pale rose made from Gamay also returns. We have restocked the Morgon and the Moulin a Vent and have received a special Fleurie called Fleurie Grille Midi where the vines are at very old and grow in granitic soil. This is a fascinating cru which is worth trying now and also putting a few aside to try over the next ten years.

And the really good news is that the very popular l'Ancien Beaujolais is back along with a slightly more up-market cousin called l'Ancien Le Buissy 2009 where the vines are around 70 years old.

We also ordered a shipment of the very popular wines from Savoie producer  Domaine Belluard. We have re-stocked the enormously popular Vin de Savoie Ayse sparkling wine made from the rare Gringet grape. We have also received more stocks of the Brut Zero sparkling wine and the Le Feu and Les Alpes still wines.

And a reminder that in the last shipment we were lucky enough to secure good supplies of a number of Herve Villemade's great wines from the Loire. His Cheverny Blanc 2011 is not only one of the best white wines he has ever produced, it remains exceptional value for money. This year's Sauvignon is also excellent value and is a good wine to offer people who are hooked on Sauvignon Blanc to give them an insight into the different style of the wine when it is produced in the Loire. The Les Ardilles 2010 is again a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Gamay and is drinking beautifully!

These wines are ready to order now. Just send us an email stating what you would like to order.
